El Salto Apple Sauce

 
  • 6-7 pounds McIntosh or Tart Apples, peeled, cored and quartered
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt


1. Combine apples, cinnamon, water, sugar, lemon juice and salt in a crockpot. Cook on high for 4.5 hours. Remove the cinnamon stick.

2. When ready the apples should be broken down and saucy. Mash any large apple pieces with a large wooden spoon to help break them down.

3. Adjust seasonings to taste.

4. Serve warm.
