When you arrive at this custom designed compound with unrestricted & truly breathtaking 360-degree Taos Valley views, be prepared to be mesmerized! Robert Parker, a renowned architect, designed this house to sit up high on a bluff where privacy & views are a priority. Within the landscape, sits a lovely 3 bed/2.5 bath home with a large studio/office, adjoining casita and studios, and a separate attached garage. This building offers a stunning balance of historic style and contemporary finishes with a focus on flow and privacy that plays along with the more traditional southwest aesthetic of exposed vigas and ceiling latillas. Spacious living room & dining rooms are designed with 150-year-old reclaimed vigas from historic structures, along with an impressive kiva fireplace to provide heat & aesthetic beauty. The Cook's kitchen is a contemporary work of art, boasting a wall of windows, Caesarstone countertops, Bosch cooktop, Gagenau oven, Thermador fridge, and stunning Bulthaup custom cabinetry. This kitchen can host an intimate group or a large gathering of family & friends. The master bedroom is situated on the south side of the house along with the large modern studio including two office spaces, a half bath, and a lovely private meditation room. The north side of the home offers a TV den, library with outdoor sitting patio, 2 bedrooms and another full bath. The guest casita is sweet and private with a full bath and studio kitchen, perfect for accommodating family or guests. Just off the living room is a sprawling sundeck overlooking the verdant valley lands and the madre acequia to the east and looking out towards the entire Sange de Cristo range to the north. This is a wonderful space for entertaining, bird watching, or just basking in the peaceful energy of unbounded views. There are several smaller intimate patio spaces designed with elements of wood and stone that offer options to follow the sun or shade! Some of the many features that speak specifically to its sustainable design and quality include: exterior and interior walls composed of pumice-crete, low oriented ceilings that reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling, high levels of insulation throughout the compound with R55 in the walls, R40 in ceilings, and R10 in the floors, energy smart appliances and state of the art, high efficiency heating and mechanical equipment, high efficiency window and door glazing, water conserving fixtures, passive solar gain, sun screens on the windows for protection against summer heat, natural earth berms against the foundation and exterior walls of the north-facing portions of the building, providing additional insulation. Zeroscape and drought-resistant shrubs, gardens and trees surrounding the structure are designed to further reduce the heat load as well as add to the beauty of this distinguished property.
